Rückgewinnung von CO2 als Nebenprodukt

Rückgewinnungsanlagen für CO2 als Nebenprodukt aus Alkoholproduktion

ASCO’s innovative CO2 Gas Recovery technology turns your vented by-product gas into profitable CO2.

Alcoholic fermentations, be it from Ethanol operations, Distillery operations, Brewery operations or even Wineries offer a great opportunity to the producer of these varying products or third parties to recover the by-product CO2 gas as means of creating an additional revenue stream, supply of CO2 for self use, and also to the extend of green image.

ASCO’s by-product CO2 gas recovery system can make this opportunity a reality to those interested in developing a business case and realizing the potential rewards of recovering CO2 gas from these sources. Our systems, manufactured of the highest quality in materials and workmanship, offers extremely low operating costs placing the least OPEX against CAPEX providing a far greater return on investment.

By-Product CO2 Recovery Plant

ASCO by-product CO2 gas recovery plants enhance the overall concept for your recovery opportunity from alcohol sources considering the following key benefits:

  • ASCO CO2 gas recovery plants offer CO2 gas recovery from a variety of source fermenting substrates;
  • Our advanced state of the art technology is strategically positioned for lowest cost production/ton;
  • The environmentally friendly technology – gas scrubbing, purifying, drying - eliminates chemical treatment and handling;
  • Totally automatic process – plant operations and liquid CO2 tank farm management;
  • The CO2 gas recovery system achieves liquid CO2 purity of 99.998% from an inlet CO2 gas source purity as low as 98.5%;
  • Final liquid CO2 quality exceeds international food and beverage standards.
General Process Description

CO2 gas is generated as a by-product of the alcoholic fermentation process. This then is collectively reclaimed from the fermentation area through adequately sized collection pipe lines for common feed to the ASCO CO2 gas recovery system. The gas at this point will be at low pressure and combined purity of >98.5%.

ASCO’s process flow would be first to analyse the raw gas for purity. Once acceptable and subject to process conditions, either a buffer gass balloon or fan blower will  be utilized to get the gas at proper flow to the CO2 gas main recovery plant for further processing .

The recovery plant compresses CO2 gas, elevating the pressure to approximately 18 bar g. for CO2 gas processing that being: washing, purifying, drying and CO2 gas condensing. Our selection of specially designed compressors offer the best in energy utilization, dry gas compression and ease of maintenance.

Once compressed, CO2 gas is treated for removal of impurities typically found in alcoholic fermentation gas by high pressure high efficiency CO2 gas washing (scrubbing) providing an effective removal rate of 99.9%.

ASCO’s system design further enhances the gas quality by proper CO2 gas purifying. This is accomplished by an activated carbon bed for organic adsorption and final gas drying to a dew point of minus 40°C at pressure (-62°C at atmospheric pressure). The operation is completed with the ASCO Twin Tower CO2 Gas Deodorizer/Dryer, rendering a final gas which is odour free, colour free, moisture free and taste free, preparing for the last stages of purification.

As a means of final purification the CO2 gas is condensed (separation of non-condensable gases). CO2 gas condensing is accomplished by use of an independent refrigeration system that liquefies CO2 gas at approximately 18 bar g. and minus 24°C. The non-condensable gases present in the CO2 gas are separated and purged from the system automatically and reused for regeneration gas within the plant.

Liquid CO2 leaving the CO2 condenser flows by gravity to a liquid CO2 purification system to achieve a final liquid CO2 purity of 99.998%. Thereafter, high quality liquid CO2 is pumped to a liquid CO2 storage tank system for inventorying and further handling the liquid CO2 be it for bulk supply, cylinder supply, dry ice supply for chilling or dry ice supply for blast cleaning.
