Efficient vehicle cleaning with ASCOJET dry ice blasting machines
You have been successfully operating in the field of vehicle care for high-end cars for two years and have now been offering dry ice blasting as a cleaning method for over a year. What has been the response so far from your discerning customers?
Personally, I would describe the dry ice blasting process as a milestone in vehicle care. The term is particularly well known to my customers in the sports car and high-performance sports car segment. Of course, the range of possible applications needs to be explained in individual consultations with customers. In any case, dry ice blasting is many times more efficient than conventional cleaning methods. Combining conventional vehicle care with the dry ice blasting process is the key to success. My customers confirm this to me time and again.
In your opinion, what are the advantages of the dry ice blasting process in vehicle detailing?
In short: fast, effective, clean and yet gentle. As no wet cleaning is required, the cleaning time is significantly reduced. Stains on upholstery and trim can be removed without leaving any marks. Where dirt would otherwise be ‘smeared’ into the fine openings of the dashboard using cloths and chemicals, everything can now be removed without leaving any residue thanks to dry ice cleaning – even from the most inaccessible corners. This makes the process absolutely unrivalled for our field of application.
You use the ASCOJET 908K in your business. Why did you decide to purchase an ASCOJET dry ice blasting machine?
The ASCOJET 908K is a true all-rounder, and the low compressed air consumption is an added bonus. My compressed air system delivers approx. 1,500 l of compressed air per minute at 6 bar. This is perfectly sufficient for cleaning vehicle interiors or washing an engine with dry ice. Depending on requirements, the blasting gun can be used with or without a cutter, so that even delicate surfaces such as upholstery and headliners can be cleaned gently. In cases where the machine’s full power is required, for example when cleaning the underbody of classic cars, I hire a mobile compressor.
How would you rate your collaboration with ASCO?
ASCO is customer-focused – just like me. Even after our first conversation, it was clear to me that I had found a competent partner. The initial stages of implementation in particular required solid technical expertise. ASCO’s wealth of experience has helped me to make optimal use of the ASCOJET dry ice blasting process for my specific application and to fine-tune the blasting parameters precisely. At the same time, I pass on my practical knowledge in this field to ASCO, which in turn helps the company to expand the range of applications for its ASCOJET dry ice blasting technology – a win-win situation all round.
What plans do you have for the future of your business?
In my industry, a large proportion of people still associate dry ice cleaning with a great deal of effort and expense. In my view, this needs to change. The first step has already been taken: at a recent customer event for sports car drivers, those present were fully convinced of the benefits of dry ice cleaning. I would like to hold such events regularly in future to fully inform my customers about the wide range of possibilities offered by dry ice cleaning. I am also planning to move to premises closer to the city centre in early 2016 so that I can be closer to my target audience in future. Dry ice blasting with ASCOJET is, of course, an integral part of this.
