FOURCOMEX supports South America’s food logistics sector with dry ice solutions

FOURCOMEX and its sister company FLUXOS DISTRIBUIDORA are ASCO’s new distribution partners in the South American countries of Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Brazil. ASCO spoke to Jorge Antonio Lavanchy, Marketing and Sales Manager, to find out more about the dry ice market in South America.

Could you please give us a brief introduction to your company?

FOURCOMEX is a family-run business. My family has joined forces with the Vicentim family to serve the markets in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay since 2019.

We focus on the markets for LPG, LNG, industrial and medical gases, as well as ammonia, and offer various solutions for these markets. Our philosophy is to reinvest profits to increase stock availability and offer our customers first-class solutions.

FOURCOMEX strives to provide the market with innovative solutions that meet customer needs. Our vision is to be a company valued by customers, with consolidated processes and participatory management, operating in an inspiring environment. We drive our focus on customer needs through product excellence and a passion for our work.

What potential do dry ice solutions and CO2 technology have in South America, and why?

If we delve deeper into the dry ice market in South America, we can identify the following business sectors:

Medical market
: dry ice for vaccine logistics.

Animal husbandry
market: Dry ice for the transport of vaccines and medical supplies for animals. Many countries in South America are global leaders in the animal husbandry market.

Food logistics
Distribution of food (deep-frozen foods, ice cream, etc.). Dry ice is used in blocks to deliver frozen products to customers.

Logistics & Transport in General
Many products must be transported at a specific temperature. In South America, weather conditions can make it difficult to transport goods that require cool conditions. Dry ice is therefore an excellent, clean and safe solution for this type of logistics.

What will be the biggest challenges in the countries where you operate?

A major challenge in South America is offering customers the best solution for their operational processes. The economic situation of the countries and companies must be taken into account, and, of course, customers’ needs must also be considered by offering creative alternatives compared to others.
