Our growth drivers are Canada’s cannabis businesses and the food processing sector

1. Have the large-scale pharmaceutical orders for vaccine deliveries changed your daily dry ice production at Fraser Valley Dry Ice, or what is the main reason for the growth?

Our main growth drivers are the cannabis business and food processing. Whilst pharmaceutical demand is good for our business, it wasn’t part of our business plan. The dry ice orders for Covid vaccine deliveries weren’t factored into the decision to purchase the second machine.
 

2. So the sudden surge in demand from the pharmaceutical industry wasn’t the reason for ordering the second dry ice machine. Have other business opportunities arisen?

We want to work with larger food distribution companies. Although we love the ASCO BP420i, we decided on this redundancy before these new customers come on board.

Having a second machine gives us the peace of mind to start these larger business relationships without worry. Even if one machine breaks down, we will always be able to fulfil our orders. In short, the second machine provides us with redundancy to protect our existing and future customers from delivery problems.
 

3. Can you put the dry ice produced for vaccine deliveries into perspective in relation to demand from other industries?

Orders from the pharmaceutical industry haven’t changed much for us – just a small amount of additional revenue, but great marketing for our business. We are also proud to be involved in the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine.
 

4. Will the second BP420i be installed in the same production centre?

The second BP420i will be located right next to the first BP420i at the same site.
 

5. What geographical area do you cover with your dry ice deliveries in Canada?

We cover the whole of Western Canada, but due to the nature of dry ice, our strength lies within our provincial borders.
