The global company “Stallergenes Greer” has leased an ASCO P15i dry ice pelletiser under the “ASCO Carefree” scheme. This solution means there are no upfront costs for customers. Read the interview with Thomas Brisset, Production Manager at the global pharmaceutical company, to find out all about his experiences with the pelletiser so far, why dry ice is important in research operations, and how it is required in the context of allergen immunotherapy.

Mr Brisset, “Stallergenes Greer” is a global company. Could you give us a brief overview of the company and explain what its core business focuses on?
“Stallergenes Greer” is a fully integrated global biopharmaceutical company specialising in the research, diagnosis and treatment of respiratory, food and venom allergies through the development and marketing of allergen immunotherapy (AIT) products and services.

Please tell us what your role is at “Stallergenes Greer”, what it involves and how long you have been with the company.
I have been Production Manager for Raw Materials at “Stallergenes Greer” for almost two years and have been with the company for 6.5 years. I oversee the production of pollen from cultivation and harvesting right through to the processed raw material, which is then ready for use in active pharmaceutical ingredients. I am also responsible for the “Amilly” site of “Stallergenes Greer”.

What do you need dry ice for at “Stallergenes Greer” and approximately how much do you produce per week?
We need dry ice during the pollen harvest to preserve the quality of the pollen as soon as it has been collected from the fields. We produce approximately 3 tonnes per week between April and July.

Why did you choose ASCO’s Carefreemodel, our rental solution for dry ice pelletisers?
We opted for a rental solution as it offers comprehensive support for preventive and corrective maintenance. This allows us to always have the most modern equipment at our disposal without having to incur high capital expenditure (CAPEX). With the new equipment, which we received at the start of 2024, we can double our production capacity and offer our harvesting team a great deal of flexibility.

What are your goals for the future?
Our goal is to meet patients’ needs in terms of quality and care. To achieve this goal, a high standard of quality is required in our facilities. ASCO makes an important contribution to this.
