Innovative CO₂ solutions with ASCO

ASCO can look back on a successful and groundbreaking year, marked by a host of interesting projects, innovative product launches and a new US branch.

The launch was marked by the new visual identity, including a new logo – in line with ASCO’s refined strategy and expanded expertise across the broad field of CO₂ applications. Managing Director Marco Pellegrino explains: “In the complex field of CO2 recovery, ASCO is now capable of delivering large-scale projects with capacities exceeding 100,000 tonnes of CO2 recovery per year. Whether recovering from high-purity CO2 sources or combustion processes – ASCO CO2 plants are equipped with the latest technologies, tailored to the customer’s specific on-site situation.” The new identity underscores ASCO’s expanded technological expertise.

“In our view, CO2 recovery opportunities and environmental concerns are inextricably linked, and the further development of these technologies is a top priority for ASCO. We are pursuing a wide range of projects, particularly in the field of CO2 recovery. It is of the utmost importance to us to demonstrate to our customers how they can recover CO2 independently on-site, even from sources with a lower degree of purity, such as flue gas. Our ASCOSORB CO2 flue gas recovery technology offers highly energy-efficient CO2 production, which pays off for companies both environmentally and commercially,” says Pellegrino. For example, the Swiss food company HOCHDORF Swiss Nutrition AG relies on an ASCO carbon dioxide flue gas recovery plant to recycle around 2,200 tonnes of CO2 per year. The company is able to profitably recover and reuse CO2 from the exhaust gases of environmentally harmful combustion processes, thereby reducing its annual CO2 emissions by 10–15 per cent.

In addition to its CO2 plant division, ASCO has also invested heavily in the further development of its dry ice technology. In recent months, the Swiss company has launched two new products: the P28 dry ice pelletiser is a compact and powerful machine for producing dry ice pellets, boasting a production capacity of up to 280 kg per hour. At the same time, the ASCOJET portfolio has been expanded to include the handy yet powerful ASCOJET 608 dry ice blaster. This new product rounds off the dry ice blasting portfolio. ASCO has been a leader in the field of dry ice technology for decades, particularly with its dry ice blasting equipment and dry ice production machines.
In addition to its technological expertise, ASCO has also expanded geographically. To strengthen its market position in the dry ice blasting and dry ice production sectors in North America, the US subsidiary ASCO CARBON DIOXIDE INC (ASCO Inc.), based in Jacksonville, Florida, was established in July this year. A locally established sales team and a well-supported dealer network will ensure rapid availability of dry ice machines for US customers.

ASCO will continue to pursue its many new developments and, as usual, has set itself ambitious goals. “In future, we want to be the go-to partner for all matters relating to CO2 and dry ice. We are now fully competitive, particularly in the field of CO2 recovery, and we will demonstrate this through the implementation of further major projects,” concluded Pellegrino.
