Locher AG Brewery installs ASCO CO₂ evaporators for the brewing process and bottling
Beer is an oxygen-sensitive drink that is produced and bottled without preservatives. For this reason, CO₂ is used as a protective gas during the brewing process and bottling. To achieve this, the liquid CO₂ is first converted into a gaseous state using an atmospheric ASCO CO₂ evaporator. To ensure that both production and bottling are supplied with sufficient carbon dioxide simultaneously, an evaporator with a capacity of 300 kg/h was installed. Beer bottles and kegs are first filled with carbon dioxide gas; this process is known as ‘pre-pressurisation’. Under counter-pressure, to prevent foaming, the beer is then filled into the bottles and kegs under this protective gas atmosphere. This low-air and therefore low-oxygen filling process ensures that the taste of the bottled beer remains stable for a long time.
