Remote support for the Canadian dry ice manufacturer "Fraser Valley Dry Ice"
To ensure it can meet the demands of the growing Canadian dry ice market in British Columbia, Fraser Valley Dry Ice has expanded its dry ice production with an automatic ASCO BP420i dry ice production machine. The BP420i produces up to 400 kg of dry ice discs and pellets per hour and operates for around 6–10 hours a day at the Canadian dry ice producer’s site. This dry ice machine is part of the ASCO i-Series range. It is equipped with state-of-the-art remote maintenance technology, offering a wide range of options in the areas of remote access, remote data and remote management. Whether for fast and efficient troubleshooting and machine maintenance or for the collection of production and performance data – the ASCO i-Series offers a range of options for combining Industry 4.0 with dry ice production. The BP420i produces discs in 10 different thicknesses and 2 different pellet sizes at the touch of a button.
The project was characterised by the excellent collaboration between Fraser Valley Dry Ice and ASCO. “During the start-up phase, we made a few mistakes whilst operating the machine and had to call on the support of the ASCO team. ASCO was always able to log into the BP420i remotely via their i-Series technology to assist us with machine settings. In the first few weeks, we encountered problems during weekend production shifts, of all times. However, the ASCO team made themselves available even at the weekend to help and provide support. Thanks to these rapid problem-solving efforts, we were also able to fulfil our orders for Monday morning. We were relieved that the ASCO team always quickly understood the issue, allowing us to resume production immediately. ASCO’s BP420i, the ASCO team, their installation and training, as well as the subsequent support, have exceeded our expectations. We doubt we would have been so successful had we worked with anyone else. ASCO keeps its promises and we are proud to be on this journey with the ASCO team, as we look forward to adding our second BP420i soon,” explains Paul Thomson of Fraser Valley Dry Ice. “We are very satisfied with the equipment and support. We trust the dry ice machine because we know how it performs, and it does so consistently. We also ordered dry ice containers from ASCO and tested a few other models from a different company. However, it turned out that the ASCO containers are of a much higher quality. We are simply completely satisfied and relieved that we made the right choice,” adds Paul Thomson.
