Contribution to achieve climate targets
At a time when sustainability is a growing concern for companies around the world, ASCO Carbon Dioxide is committed to doing its part to reduce environmental impact. By promoting state-of-the-art solutions for CO₂ capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), the company supports global efforts to prevent further CO₂ emissions reaching our atmopshere. ASCO is actively committed to minimising its own environmental footprint through the implementation of solar energy and the optimisation of production processes.
With a network of subsidiaries and strategic partners, the company ensures that its carbon capture solutions are accessible to companies around the world. This global reach enables ASCO Carbon Dioxide to provide timely and efficient solutions regardless of geographic location.
In a world characterised by industrialisation and innovation, ASCO Carbon Dioxide has made a name for itself as a reliable and future-oriented supplier of industrial gas solutions. With a rich history dating back to 1900, the company has continuously evolved to meet the dynamic demands of the industry. Its core competences in CO₂ recovery, dry ice production and blasting technology have cemented its position as an industry leader.
With ASCO you give recovered CO2 a value. Or make it disappear.
With ASCO you give recovered CO2 a value. Or make it disappear.
Thanks to its many years of experience, ASCO Kohlensäure AG is a specialist in the field of Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage (CCUS). It's a recovery technology that captures carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from various industrial processes before they are released into the atmosphere. The recovered CO₂ can then be used for a wide variety of applications ("utilization"), e.g. for the production of synthetic fuels ("e-fuels"), in the plastics industry, for upgrading cement, as dry ice in cold chains in the pharmaceutical and food industries or in the beverage industry.
In future, most of the recovered CO₂ will be stored permanently underground ("storage") to prevent it from entering our atmosphere and reduce the negative effects on climate change. The captured CO₂ will be transported and stored in geological formations such as empty oil and gas fields or deep aquifers (rock layers).
Overview: CO2 value chain
At the core of ASCO's mission is the commitment to capture CO₂ emissions at their source, preventing the release of harmful greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The company employs state-of-the-art capture technologies that ensure the efficient and effective extraction of CO₂ from various industrial processes and power generation activities. This proactive stance not only mitigates climate change but also aligns with global efforts to transition to a low-carbon economy.
What sets ASCO apart from other providers is its portfolio of services for the entire CO₂ value chain. ASCO is not only a company that recovers CO₂, but also a comprehensive solution provider for the further utilization of CO₂. With this approach, CO₂ from fossil sources can be reduced and dependence on fossil sources is minimized.
ASCO's Carbon Capture Solutions
The pioneering ASCO CO₂ Stack Gas Recovery Plant (SGR) converts flue gas into a usable and profitable source of CO₂. CO₂ gas won by a CO₂ Stack Gas Recovery System is a by-product of flue gas production from boilers as well as from other flue gas sources offering an economic CO₂ source to any CO₂ consumer or reseller. ASCO, as a provider of complete CO₂ solutions, offers CO₂ Stack Gas Recovery Systems (SGR) with various capacities.
ASCO’s innovative CO₂ By-Product Recovery Plant turns your vented by-product gas into profitable CO₂ Be it from an alcoholic fermentation process, other industrial sources (e.g. ammonia or ethylene oxide production) or natural sources, ASCO finds your individual CO₂ recovery solution.
The CO₂ Revert Recovery System for Dry Ice Machines (RRSi) is engineered to efficiently recover revert CO₂ gas from dry ice pellet and block machines and feed it back into the dry ice production process. The process results in a conversion rate of 90 - 95%.
Our aspiration
ASCO uses predominantly renewable energy at all its Swiss sites. "This illustrates our efforts to not only support various industries with our carbon capture solutions - we also try to minimize our own CO₂ footprint as much as possible," says Ralph Spring, CEO of ASCO Kohlensäure AG.
At a time when sustainability is a growing concern for companies around the world, ASCO is determined to do its part to protect the climate. With technologies for the decarbonization of industries with high CO₂ emissions, e.g. power plants, cement, biogas, chemicals and many more, ASCO offers efficient solutions for carbon capture, utilization and storage of carbon dioxide ("Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage", CCUS).
