1. How did the idea of founding G&B Cryogénie develop and how long does the company exist?
Our first contact with the dry ice technology was in 2003 on the French shipyard “Les Chantiers de l’Atlantique” in St. Nazaire which was specialised in shipbuilding of ocean liners. Axel Gélinet, one of the co-founder of G&B Cryogénie, worked there at that time.
The dry ice blasting technology was used to clean steel plates just before painting. We decided to investigate in this technology in which we saw a lot of potential for a variety of applications. Less than two years later G&B Cryogénie was founded in Brittany (North West of France). We started with one double hose blasting unit and were supplied with dry ice by the company Messer. In 2008 we bought our first ASCO Pelletizer, an A220P which still works daily, in order to produce the dry ice ourselves.
2. What is your service portfolio and what are you specialized in?
Our specialty was and still are the dry ice blasting services on our customer sites. But for more than 10 years, G&B Cryogénie has diversified its activities with the production and delivery of dry ice in the half north of France with two productions sites. We produce all sizes of pellets and blocks and we recently purchased an ASCO Pellet Bagging Machine, with that we are able to pack pellets into bags.
Furthermore, we have also been selling and renting ASCO dry ice blasting machines and pelletizers for several years. We take care of the French and North African market with the assistance of the ASCO sales team.
Most of our activities are done internally except for the supply of liquid CO2 which is taken care of by Messer and ASCO. In fact we realize the blasting jobs with our technicians and the deliveries are done by our trucks in order to have maximum control on our services.
3. G&B Cryogénie has been using ASCO dry ice technology for years. What convinces you in everyday use?
We decided to choose ASCO dry ice technology a long time before we became distributors for the French and North African market.
When you choose a material for your daily activity, you have several settings to take into consideration; the quality, the ergonomic, the fiability and of course the price. ASCO provides dry ice technology where all these settings are merged. Another essential setting is the relationship with ASCO team; sales, back office, logistics, and maintenance - ASCO combines all these services with a really good performance and it is really appreciated in our business where both service and adaptability are the key words.
ASCO dry ice technology is really adapted for everyday use and also in some difficult conditions. ASCO machines do not require any specific or complicated maintenance; concerning the dry ice blasting units there is practically no maintenance need and for pelletizers, it is in fact the same maintenance planning as for a standard hydraulic pump.
