Our own dry ice production increases our flexibility and reduces production downtimes

1.     In which industry are your main customers active?

Derckx Opticare is specialized in cleaning with dry ice. Our customers come from a variety of industries. For example, food industry, engineering, construction companies, painting companies and almost all other sectors.

2.     You are a cleaning company and have different customers - do your customers prefer cleaning with water high-pressure cleaing or with dry ice blasting systems? 

We always clean with the best possible technology for our customers. Where water cannot be used, dry ice is used. Especially when the pollution cannot be removed with water or other techniques, this is the best option. For water, manual work or dry ice blasting, the cost aspect almost always plays a role. Another reason to dry ice blasting are the non-existent residue. The dry ice sublimates immediately after impact on the surface.

3.     Where do you see the advantages of your own dry ice production compared to purchasing dry ice?

In-house production is a very important point for us. We always have the right amount of dry ice available and this shortens production downtimes. Also, the logistical effort in context with dry ice purchasing and disposition is lower and we have more flexibility because freshly produced dry ice is always available.

4.     How much dry ice do you produce with the P28i in a week?

With the P28i we produce up to 30 tons of dry ice. We use different pelletizers, such as the A90P, A220P. The usage of the machines is based on the request. In summer we produce about 60 - 80 tons per week. 

5.     The P28i has been in operation since summer 2020 - how satisfied are you with the dry ice pelletizer?

We are very satisfied with the P28i. It is easy to operate and the quality of the dry ice is excellent. That’s why it is already our 4^th pelletizer from ASCO.

6.      In your opinion, what are the advantges of the P28i?

The P28i is easy to operate and the quality of the dry ice is very good. Since we have several small pelletizers, there are hardly any downtime due to malfunctions. Several products (3 or 16 mm pellets) are also possible without changing discs.

7.     Please introduce your company briefly.

Derckx Opticare is a family business and has been active in many sectors with dry ice blasting since 1994. In 2004 we started our own dry ice production, for which we bought the A90P. Since 2004 our subsidiary CryoRent has been active in renting dry ice machines and supplying dry ice to our customers. From 2004 until today we are specialized in high-pressure cleaning from 500 to 2500 bar water and all kinds of dry ice cleaning. With these techniques, we are an important part in dry ice blasting and the removal of coatings and dirt on many surfaces.

The company is active throughout the Netherlands and also in other countries within Europe for special orders. We have received orders from Germany, Belgium, England, Denmark, Switzerland, Spain and Kuwait.
