What trends can you see in the field of dry ice blast cleaning?
For customers in the dry ice blast cleaning sector, combi blasting is usually an unknown but often ideal application. “Normal" dry ice blasting is not sufficient. Surfaces can be treated differently due to different abrasive media such as sand, which results in a particularly high cleaning power. I am currently compiling this test experience in a "study".
Many companies are also considering automating dry ice blasting. This also includes direct dry ice production with a combination of the blasting unit and its necessary interfaces and sensors. ASCO has created the complete solution for this trend.
In addition, there are more and more inquiries for mobile dry ice production systems. ASCO is ideally positioned for these requests with the ISO tank container and customer-specific solutions in which dry ice pelletizers are installed in containers.
In addition, ASCO offers sound insulation solutions in the form of cabins with CO2 monitoring. These sound insulation solutions are increasingly in demand because, as we know, dry ice blasting generates a lot of noise. As occupational health and safety plays a major role in Germany, ASCO develops individual customer solutions in order to be able to continue dry ice blasting as usual.
In your opinion, which industries are particularly suitable for the dry ice blasting method and what do you see as the advantages?
In principle, dry ice blasting can be used in all industries and in handicraft. But our key customers are still in the foundry industry, in plastic injection moulding, in handicraft and in industrial services. I am currently observing stagnation in the automotive industry and its suppliers. The development in plastic injection molding continues to rise, although the share of the automotive industry is declining. In addition, new trends are emerging in microelectronics and restoration. Services in handicraft (wood, painters, facades) are also on the rise.
What is behind your project "United Ice Blasting Companies"?
The idea of this project is based on unifiedly trained specialist personnel for blasting services on construction sites with ASCO technology. The goal is a nationwide network in Germany, through which one can offer personnel with standardized ASCO know-how for large-scale projects. At present, two consultants from the field service are on the road visiting various construction sites. Their goal is to generate orders for blasting services.
Your company "Trockeneishandel Bad Berka" has been an ASCO partner for years. What is the difference between ASCO blasting machines and those of other manufacturers?
With its modular blasting machine concept, ASCO has created the all-rounder. The modular design of ASCO blasting machines allows unlimited application possibilities. With some accessories you get 3 devices in one, this brings of course big advantages. Investment costs, space and weight are saved.
The new generation of devices clearly shows that user input flows into product development very quickly. As with the ASCOJET Combi Blaster 1708, where various improvements have been made. A new ergonomic blast gun, a larger and better integrated abrasive compartment and easier adjustment of the abrasive quantity. These improvements make the application even easier and more reliable. In addition, the training centre in Bad Hönningen will be used in the future to train users in ASCO blasting technology and to impart knowledge in application technology. Of course, this also includes the topic of occupational safety.
